What Concession/Rebates can I get in NSW?

On-supply Embedded Network customers may be eligible for NSW Government Energy or Life Support Rebates. Visit NSW Climate and Energy Action website for more details

Check your NMI number on your invoice - if it starts with "EN" you may be in an Embedded Network.

Low-Income Household Rebate

Who may be eligible

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a resident in NSW;
  • be a residential or on-supply customer with your name on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence; and
  • hold an eligible concession card (see below)
Rebate value
  • $350 (excl GST) / $385 (incl GST) per year
  • OR 95.90c (excl GST) / 109.285c (incl GST) per day
Energy type Electricity
Valid concession cards
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) issued by SA/DVA
  • SA Health Care Card (HCC) including Low Income Household Health Care Card
  • Veterans Affairs Gold Card

Gas Rebate

Who may be eligible

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a resident in NSW;
  • be a residential or on-supply customer with your name on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence; and
  • hold an eligible concession card (see below)

  • $110 (excl GST) / $121 (incl GST) per year 
  • OR 30.14c (excl GST) / 33.15c (incl GST) per day

Valid concession cards
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) issued by SA/DVA
  • SA Health Care Card (HCC) including Low Income Household Health Care Card
  • Veterans Affairs Gold Card
How to apply

If you have electricity with a valid concession card we will automatically apply this to your gas account.

If you only have a gas account, you can add your concession card via MyAccount

Family Energy Rebate

Who may be eligible

Those eligible for the Federal Government’s Family Tax Benefit A or Family Tax Benefit B.

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a resident in NSW;
  • be a residential or on-supply customer with your name on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence, or a person to act on behalf of the customer, or the retailer; and
  • have been assessed by SA as being eligible for the Family Tax Benefit A or B during the financial year immediately preceding the financial year in which an application for this rebate is made and have received a payment of said Family Tax Benefit in respect of that eligibility
Rebate amount $250 (excl GST) / $275 (incl GST) per year

If you receive the Low Income Household Rebate, the Family Energy Rebate is capped at $30 (excl GST) / $33 (incl GST).

Life Support Rebate

Who may be eligible

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a resident in NSW;
  • be a residential or on-supply customer with your name on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence where approved life support equipment is used by a person living at that same address; and
  • submit a valid application signed by a registered medical practitioner (who is not the applicant) to verify that the use of the approved life support equipment is required at your principal place of residence
Rebate value This depends on the type of machine you use.

  2. Ask your doctor to sign the form and confirm that you need the equipment.

Medical Energy Rebate

Who may be eligible

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a resident in NSW;
  • be a residential or on-supply customer with your name on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence where approved life support equipment is used by a person living at that same address; and
  • submit a valid application signed by a registered medical practitioner (who is not the applicant) to verify that a person living at the residence has an inability to self-regulate body temperature as defined on page 7 of the Medical Energy Rebate form below; and
  • holds a valid concession card

  • $350 (excl GST) / $385 (incl GST) per year 
  • OR 95.904c (excl GST) / 105.49c (incl GST) per day

How to apply

To register for the Medical Energy Rebate:

  1. Download and complete the Medical Energy Rebate form (PDF 359 kB), which includes having the form signed by a medical practitioner (who is not the application) who has been treating the applicant for at least three months
  2. Send the completed form to us via:

Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) Vouchers

Who may be eligible Primary account holders whose principal place of residence is in NSW, who have an outstanding debt on an open account, and who the EAPA Provider has assessed as being financially disadvantaged or experiencing difficulty in paying their energy bill owing to a crisis or emergency situation

How to apply

EAPA vouchers are distributed to electricity and gas customers by a range of community welfare organisations (CWO).

To find your nearest CWO, visit the NSW Government’s EAPA Assistance webpage or call Service NSW on 13 77 88.

EAPA applications can take several weeks to process and will culminate in an assessment of your situation to verify your eligibility. As EAPA Providers are unable to provide assistance if your account has been paid in full, please Contact Us to put a temporary hold on your account to prevent payment by direct debit while we await your assessment.

 

Seniors Energy Rebate

Who may be eligible

The rebate is for independent self-funded retirees only. A household can only receive one Seniors Energy Rebate each financial year even if more than one eligible person lives at the same address

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a resident in NSW;
  • be a residential or on-supply customer with your name on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence where approved life support equipment is used by a person living at that same address; and
  • hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card issued by SA/DVA
Rebate value $250 (excl GST) / $275 (incl GST) per year
