What Concessions/Rebates can I get in QLD?

Cost of Living rebate 

Who may be eligible

All households in Queensland with an electricity account. 

Eligible small businesses with a separate metred business tariff and electricity consumption less than 100 MWh.

Customers who receive an electricity bill from their landlord or body corporate are eligible but will need to apply.  

Rebate value

Households receive $1000.00

Small businesses receive $325.00

The Queensland Government is providing a cost of living/cost of business rebate to your account, funded by coal royalties.

Thus rebate will be applied to your first bill issued after 1 July 2024.

  • $338.355 (excl GST) / $372.1905 (incl GST) per year
  • OR 0.927 (excl GST) / $1.0197 (incl GST) per day

Natural gas

  • $81.55 (excl GST) / $89.70 (incl GST) per year
  • OR 0.20234 (excl GST) / $0.2458 (incl GST) per day

Home Emergency Assistance Scheme

Who may be eligible The Home Emergency Assistance Scheme helps low-income households pay their current electricity or natural gas bill when they face a short-term financial crisis or an unforeseen emergency.
Rebate value One-off payments of up to $720 to use towards you electricity or natural gas accounts, once every 2 years.

Register your life support equipment with us

If you do have life support equipment, let us know. We'll tell your distributor to make sure they tell you about any planned power outages.

To register your life support equipment:

  2. Ask your doctor to sign it and confirm you need the equipment.

Who may be eligible

People with a medical condition that makes it difficult to self-regulate their body temperature when exposed to extreme heat or cold.
