What Concession/Rebates could I get in ACT?

You may be eligible for a concession or rebate to reduce the cost of your electricity or gas bills. To help you determine what concessions/rebates you may be eligible for, please see our list below, or check out the ACT Government website.

 

COVID-19-related rebates

As of April 2020, the ACT Government is offering an Economic Survival Package to eligible residential and business customers.

 

Economic Survival Package for families and households

Who may be eligible Valid concession card holders. This rebate only applies to electricity and gas supplied to your primary residence.
Rebate value

Households receiving the ACT Government's Utilities Concession will get an additional one-off payment as part of the Economic Survival Package.  

  • $200 applied to your next electricity bill
Applicable energy type This concession appears on your electricity bill but helps with your electricity and gas bills.
Valid concession cards
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Department of Veterans Affairs Card (DVA)
How to apply This rebate will be automatically applied to your electricity bill, you do not need to apply or get in touch with us.

 

Utilities Concession (now extended to eligible asylum seekers)

Who may be eligible Asylum seekers with a valid ACT Services Access Card.
Rebate value

Households receiving the ACT Government's Utilities Concession will get an additional one-off payment as part of the Economic Survival Package.

  •  $700 (excl GST) / $770 (incl GST) per year, from 2020–2021
  • Additional one-off $200 rebate
The amount will be automatically credited to your energy account once your application has been processed and eligibility confirmed.

How to apply

Asylum seekers with a valid ACT Services Access Card can apply up until 30 June 2021 via email: covid19electricityrebate@act.gov.au

Economic Survival Package for small business

Who may be eligible Small business owners, non-licenced sporting clubs and non-licensed community clubs, with electricity usage below 100 megawatts per year.
Rebate value

Eligible businesses in ACT will receive a one-off payment as part of the Economic Survival Package. This rebate will apply regardless of whether you are on standing or market offers.  

  • $750 will be applied to your next electricity bill in a one-off payment in 2020
Applicable energy type This rebate applies to your electricity bill.
How to apply

Small businesses will have this rebate automatically applied to your electricity bill, you don’t need to apply or get in touch with us.

Non-licensed sporting and community clubs will need to apply to the ACT Government for this rebate using the application form.

 

Combined Utilities Concession

Who may be eligible Valid concession card holders. This rebate only applies to electricity, gas and water supplied to your primary residence.
Rebate value
  • $700 (excl GST) / $770 (incl GST) per year, from 2019–2020
  • OR 89.15c (excl GST) / 98.10c (incl GST) per day from 1 November to 31 May (Summer)
  • AND $3.34 (excl GST) / $3.64 (incl GST) per day from 1 June to 31 October (Winter)
Applicable energy type This concession appears on your electricity bill but helps with your electricity, gas and water bills.
Valid concession cards
  • Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
  • Health Care Card (HCC)
  • Department of Veterans Affairs Card (DVA)
How to apply Rebate is automatically applied when your valid concession is added via MyAccount

 

Home Haemodialysis Rebate

Who may be eligible Persons receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine, or their parents/guardians.
Rebate value
  • $1,200 (excl GST) / $1,320 (incl GST) per year
  • OR $3.29 (excl GST) / $3.62 (incl GST) per day

Valid concession cards Concession card not required
How to apply

To register for the Home Haemodialysis Rebate, you need to show:

  • You’re the registered owner or joint owner of the property.
  • The person receiving treatment, if that isn’t you, lives with you.

You also require a letter from a medical practitioner or professional confirming you are:

  • Receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine; or
  • The parent or guardian of a person receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine.

If you’re eligible for the Home Haemodialysis rebate, you’re also eligible for the Life Support Rebate.

To register for the Life Support Rebate:

  1. Contact us on 1300 946 898 to request a Medical Confirmation Form.
  2. Ask your doctor to sign the form and confirm that you need the equipment.
