Do I need to be at my property when the electricity is connected?

Requirements differ slightly depending on where you're based. In Queensland, you need to be on site to have your electricity connected. In New South Wales (Ausgrid distribution only), someone over the age of 18 must be on site.

Otherwise, you generally don't need to be at your property to have the power turned on so long as you ensure the electricity mains have been turned off and that there is clear access to your meter. If clear access is not provided to the meter, your connection may fail and wasted visit fees may apply. With this in mind, even though it isn't strictly necessary, we do recommend you try to have someone on site where possible to ensure a smooth connection process.
